History:
Jasmine Green tea was first believed to have been produced
over 1000 years ago, during the Song Dynasty period in China. During Ming
Dynasty, the technique of scenting green tea with jasmine had been
well-developed. The commercial mass production of Jasmine tea emerged during
the reign of Qing Dynasty, at Fuzhou of Fujian province. The tea was created
from the jasmine plant. Today, China is famous for producing the best blends of
jasmine tea, and is widely regarded as the best jasmine green tea producing
country in the world. The floral fragrance of Jasmine complements the vegetal
sweetness and nutty notes of Green Tea.
How it works:
Jasmine green tea is appreciated for its sweetness, perfumed
fragrance and delicately achieved flavor balance between the floral bloom and
the delicate tea leaves. Great care and skill goes into producing a jasmine
tea. Tea leaves are harvested in the early spring and stocked until the late
summer when fresh jasmine flowers are in bloom. Jasmine flowers are picked
early in the day and are kept cool till nightfall. During the night jasmine
flowers opens and releases their fragrance. As the green tea absorbs moisture
from the fresh Jasmine flowers, so it must be dried again to prevent spoilage.
